Guys I am going to compete with the Video grapher. Well actually it's not as bad as it sounds.

I have been feeling for the bride who cannot afford or even does not want a videographer, so i thought high end DVD with my images that perhaps never made it to the album, etc.

Got a friend who writes music so royalty free sorted, in fact this is one of his songs. got a graphic artist for the creative side.

15 minutes, $800 what do you think,

This is more high end, it's not a slide show as this hopefully demonstrate.

So all feedback welcome, email or blog.

T the Brit

One of the best books I have ever read.

Ron Hall and Denver Moore, the authors of Same Kind of Different as Me were in town at Abilene Christian University. I was able to cover the events and took some great pictures of these two amazing men. The school covered the events with video, but no other photographers, so my images will be used for all of their needs. If you haven't read Same Kind of Different as Me, you will be uber blessed by it...A modern day slave, an international art dealer and the unlikely woman who brought them together (a true story). Here is the link to my personal blog with the images.

I have the Today show on in the background and am watching Tony the Brit's twin brother, De Niro. : )

My New Space!

Hey everyone- Tammy reminded me to post these pictures on this blog. No one has posted in awhile and I thought it was a great idea-

I just got a new place. Totally fell in my lap. I wasn't really looking yet, it's a huge investment and really scary but I took the jump because I knew I wouldn't get another opportunity like this. This woman I met in December has her own "one-stop bridal shop". She does linens, flowers, decor, lighting, invitation, favors, the works. She had an extra room in her shop she didn't use and when we were talking asked me if I wanted to rent it. I just wanted something to be able to meet my clients at.

I think we did pretty good- of course I'm sure I'll make changes to it eventually but right now it's pretty darn cute. We still need to fix the lighting- anyone want to do that for me? :) We bought the furniture at IKEA- thank IKEA for cheap cheap prices!!!!

Here is the cute little courtyard to get to the place- our studio is the first door on the right.

I'm pretty happy with it- I think it works. Let me know what you think! :) Hope all is well with everyone! :)

Hi From Abilene

O.k. here is an update on business for me, thanks to the prodding by that pushy guy across the pond. All is well, I have 9 weeks of weddings in a row, which is busy but full of fun. A couple are out of town, the rest here in good ol' Abilene. I am still loving my office/gallery space. Kind of thinking about setting up a backdrop and some lighting, I am feeling intruiged by Platon and his work. So excited to hear from Courtney and the One Light Workshop she is at right now in Alaska.

Personal life things are going well. My son was pronounced brain tumor free a couple of months ago. We are all breathing fuller breaths around our house, everyone, especially my twin daughter has come out of her shell since Jack's good news.

Things are awesome here, I am blessed and thankful.

Here is a pic that I took last Saturday at a wedding. This bride was in the middle of her family, they were busy with last minute preparations before the wedding was to start, just minutes away. In the middle of the motion was this bride, quiet and still.

So where have you all gone

Now lets rekindle this thing !
It's lonely enough in this wedding world and I know I get to travel a little more than most so I expect all my alumni to keep me entertained. However giving starts at home so here's an update.

I placed a series of adverts in Italian Weddings which distributes in the UK and US. They gave me editorial and some double pages (mike was right). I might get a front page if I play nice. Here is the image.
Basic strap line "UK Brides take me with them". Less is more, right. I also got hooked up with Europe's biggest Destination Planners and they promote me from September this year.

What else ? Well I am the proud owner of a 14-24 lens which is a legend on the D3. All you Canon folk hold on I am sure they will answer the D700 genius and so it start again.

What is good in your world, all to easy to think about the negotives currently. War, credit crunch, terror, oil prices. They way I look at it, Brides are still getting married and preserving their day is becoming more significant. I have pushed prices up a little and sold them on the quality and they like it. People are introverting, spending on themselves rather than wasting on everything else.

It's a great time for creative imagery. Now I'm no preacher and my sermon's are nothing compared to Mike's but thought I would spread a little Brit Love.  xxxxxx

The Knot Ad

Hey guys...I know some of you were asking to see my knot ad. I'm supposed to be receiving a final proof within the next day or so, so once I get it I'll be sure to post it so you can see!

On another note, I'm not sure why I can't post under my Courtney Fries name, so sorry it keeps saying "zoombug"...maybe I can figure out how to change it!

I hope you guys are doing great and getting lots of business...I'd love to hear how your wedding schedules are looking after Mike's 4-day.

Facebook/

Today I just wanted to quickly talk about couple of things.

Once in awhile a product comes along that when you see it makes you go "wow." Last year when I got my Garmin Nuvi 660, it was probably one of the best investment I made for my business. I take that gadget with me everywhere I go. I've never gotten lost since then.

Well I was introduced to another product recently that made me go "wow" again. This bag is awesome. I carry it with me to all my eSessions and when I travel. The Boda Dry bag can carry up to 4 lenses and has so many compartments to carry every accessory you can imagine! The strap is supersoft and distributes the weight nicely. I could describe it more but you have to try it out for yourself. Jim Garner stands by his product and will go out of his way to make sure that everyone is satisfied.

If you are interested, shoot me an email and I will send you a PromoCode to get additional 10% off this bag!

If you have or get one, take a photo of yourself and email it to me! :) Click on the image above to get more information.

Thanks Boda!!!

Do You Facebook?

If you don't have a facebook account yet, I highly suggest you get one. It's one of the best ways to network with friends, clients and other phtoographers online. You'll see why once you sign up. I introduced Jose Villa to facebook and he's been hooked since then. Click here to sign up. Then add me as your friend!

I signed up for this awhile back but recently started using it more and more. It's a great way to briefly keep in touch with your friends. Try it out. You can get updates on what they are up to via email, mobile text, and or AIM. Add me to follow: Twitter: Kenny Kim

Rangefinder cover

Hey I just got the Rangefinder Magazine in the mail today- did you all notice Rosanna on the cover? She looks beautiful. Unfortunately it was one of the wonderful photographers from the Jan workshop but it was still cool to see her on there! :)

Checking in to say HI,,,,,Finally!

Hi Everyone,
Just arrived back from Las Vegas and enjoyed a few days at WPPI, ran into Chris Diset and enjoyed a breakfast with him at Paris Le Cafe. Talked photography for awhile (only Canon chat....!)

Of course ran into Mike Colon and Kenny Kim which was a pleasure. Kenny was proudly armed with his camera (Canon) and started shooting right away, tried to take cover but we just weren't quick enough. I shot a few rounds back myself (visit our blog for a few images from Vegas) www.deedeedallas.com

It was jammed packed with people, seems to get larger and larger each year. Maybe that is why it will be moving to the MGM next year? I am sure many of you were there, but there were so many bodies who would have known.

Hope all is well with everyone, sorry I have failed to check in occasionally, Chris reminded me that I have failed all of you so I will try to do better.

If anyone is ever in Southern Ca and needs a place to hang out or get a free room get in touch, we are only 40 minutes away from Disneyland, Knott's Berry farm, the beaches etc....

Balboa Engagement Shoot

So I booked this wedding and engagement shoot with Kelly and Jennifer and they said they liked the gallery I had up of Jerod and Rosanna when we shot them down in Balboa and thats where they wanted to do their engagement shoot. I have a gallery up on my website. Let me know what you think, and please keep in mind, I didnt have Mike to tell me what Kelvin and exposure to use. And if you have 33 minutes of your life that you will never get back, I have a video I made of the photos and some video footage on the blog.

Would you all like some blackmail?

Phillip and I got to shoot a wedding of mine together. It's so awesome we live in the same state. We had a ton of fun and wanted to show you some pictures of the night- I promise there was no alcohol involved. :)
The other guy in the picture was the cool videographer. I think the money signs fit Phillip-maybe he'll brand that on his leg next!
Thanks again Phillip!

More D3 testing...

Hey guys... I'm in Boston this week and got a chance to do some more D3 low light shooting last night. It was pouring rain and some of those old neighborhoods are really dark. There are some shots on my blog at http://www.JustinWesbrooks.net.

Same Sex Marriage

Without igniting a political or religious debate, I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are on gay marriage, which has become a hot topic once again. Currently there are 2 states I think that allow gay marriage. Another handful recognize domestic partnerships in some form or another, and 26 states say no way.

Since our 4 day workshop, if one thing stuck with me, it was “Be first at something”.

In your own little corner of the world, would you be the first to photograph a gay wedding? Would you be the first to feature a gay wedding on your website?
