Rangefinder cover

Hey I just got the Rangefinder Magazine in the mail today- did you all notice Rosanna on the cover? She looks beautiful. Unfortunately it was one of the wonderful photographers from the Jan workshop but it was still cool to see her on there! :)

Checking in to say HI,,,,,Finally!

Hi Everyone,
Just arrived back from Las Vegas and enjoyed a few days at WPPI, ran into Chris Diset and enjoyed a breakfast with him at Paris Le Cafe. Talked photography for awhile (only Canon chat....!)

Of course ran into Mike Colon and Kenny Kim which was a pleasure. Kenny was proudly armed with his camera (Canon) and started shooting right away, tried to take cover but we just weren't quick enough. I shot a few rounds back myself (visit our blog for a few images from Vegas) www.deedeedallas.com

It was jammed packed with people, seems to get larger and larger each year. Maybe that is why it will be moving to the MGM next year? I am sure many of you were there, but there were so many bodies who would have known.

Hope all is well with everyone, sorry I have failed to check in occasionally, Chris reminded me that I have failed all of you so I will try to do better.

If anyone is ever in Southern Ca and needs a place to hang out or get a free room get in touch, we are only 40 minutes away from Disneyland, Knott's Berry farm, the beaches etc....

I'm headed out to WPPI tomorrow and will arrive sometime in the evening. I'll be at the Pictage event Sunday afternoon, and then roaming around on the floor Monday and Tuesday (that's at the conference... not the strip club). Balboa Engagement Shoot

So I booked this wedding and engagement shoot with Kelly and Jennifer and they said they liked the gallery I had up of Jerod and Rosanna when we shot them down in Balboa and thats where they wanted to do their engagement shoot. I have a gallery up on my website. Let me know what you think, and please keep in mind, I didnt have Mike to tell me what Kelvin and exposure to use. And if you have 33 minutes of your life that you will never get back, I have a video I made of the photos and some video footage on the blog.

Would you all like some blackmail?

Phillip and I got to shoot a wedding of mine together. It's so awesome we live in the same state. We had a ton of fun and wanted to show you some pictures of the night- I promise there was no alcohol involved. :)
The other guy in the picture was the cool videographer. I think the money signs fit Phillip-maybe he'll brand that on his leg next!
Thanks again Phillip!

More D3 testing...

Hey guys... I'm in Boston this week and got a chance to do some more D3 low light shooting last night. It was pouring rain and some of those old neighborhoods are really dark. There are some shots on my blog at http://www.JustinWesbrooks.net.

Same Sex Marriage

Without igniting a political or religious debate, I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are on gay marriage, which has become a hot topic once again. Currently there are 2 states I think that allow gay marriage. Another handful recognize domestic partnerships in some form or another, and 26 states say no way.

Since our 4 day workshop, if one thing stuck with me, it was “Be first at something”.

In your own little corner of the world, would you be the first to photograph a gay wedding? Would you be the first to feature a gay wedding on your website?

An idea...

Hello again,
I recently had an idea (shocking I know) currently I am in the slow time of year, which I love so I can catch up and make operations more efficient. But, I wanted to share this idea to help get me out of this slow period. I contacted a local apple farm (they are also an amazing wedding site that I have shot at), anyway they are closed until May, but the apple trees will start blooming at the end of March. They are going to allow me exclusive rights to shoot portraits (family, engagement etc.) during the blossom season. I am giving them a free session for their family in return.

This is something that I hope will set me apart from other photographers here, and inspire people to sign up. We'll see. So far so good. I have sent out an e-mail and am distributing postcards.

Let me know some things you are doing to create business in a slow time.

Aperture Backup

Hey there everyone!
Happy March. At the workshop David Escalante mentioned not to back up Aperture in Time Machine (if you have the new Mac operating system.) I just talked to Apple this morning about some other things, and then asked about backing up, because this makes me nervous. I need to backup Aperture. Anyway, they said with the newest system update all of those bugs have been corrected, so go ahead and backup.

Hope this helps someone =).
